Vicky Richards
Meet Vicky (me). She's a creative, friendly, and poorly-dressed London-based writer & editor originally from the exotic climes of deep dark Shropshire.

She specializes in comedy and has written for BBC radio programmes including Dead Ringers, The News Quiz, The Now Show, and DMs are Open. She also regularly contributes to satire publications Reductress and The Daily Mash. Last year, she was a runner up in the British Comedy Guide's Writing competition, after submitting two sketches.

Despite an attention span severely depleted by the existence of TikTok, she is also developing long-form projects. Her sitcom Bad Heir Day was longlisted for the ShortCom sitcom writing competition, and her play The Lucky Paradox reached the top 12% of BBC Writersroom submissions.

A bit more about Vicky...

Despite having all the charisma of a wet flannel, she's even tried the self-flagellating art of
stand-up, competing in the heats of the Funny Women Awards and the 2Northdown New Act Competition. In 2023 she was named a West End New Act of the Year: One to Watch.

In the rare moment she isn't making everything into a joke, she's also turned her hand to drama,
having had short plays produced by Theatre 503 and Encompass Productions and been selected for Broken Silence Theatre's Playwright's Hive scheme. Her drama pilot Blood Ties was shortlisted for the Voices of the Future competition run by screenwriter Alannah Olivia.

Her first novel for children - Curse That Hearse - was selected for the WriteMentor Summer Mentoring Scheme and later longlisted for both the Mslexia Children's & YA novel prize and the Guppy Books open submission window. She also had a short story about a troll under Tower Bridge published in the London City of Stories Anthology.

If you weren't impressed by that, she also has ten years of experience in a semi-respectable career as a children's book editor, working on a range of non-fiction and fiction titles. She has particular expertise in creating STEM and science related titles, as it turns out even gene editing and the periodic table can be made interesting and accessible to kids if you stick a cheeky joke in there.

Want to work with me? Want to find out more about my projects? Or are you just a likeminded industry person who'd like to connect and have a general chinwag?
I'd love to hear from you!

However, if you're offering a dubiously free air fryer or are a hot single in my area looking for love, I'm afraid it's a pass; I already get enough of those emails. But I am open to joining a new religion if they provide biscuits.
